A "Kneeded" Getaway

Photobucket

Today we decided to leave town, get out of the heat, and make some memories. We headed up toward Pinetop. Along the way, we stopped off at a waterfall running due to the recent rains. We hopped a barbwire fence to get to it.

Then we stopped in Show Low to a little park dedicated to my great, great grandfather, Corydon E. Cooley. As a little girl, I always enjoyed hearing the story about how grandpa won Show Low. As you can tell, the girls had a fun time playing around with Grandpa Cooley....

....if you will look closely, my sweet daughter Kelli was having just a little too much fun with Grandpa Cooley (notice the placement of her right hand). It wasn't until the ride home when I was reviewing the pictures that we all realized what she had done and had a good laugh over it.

We headed on up the hill and stopped at our first hiking trail. As we were walking along, that same dear sweet Kelli of mine was pushed by Wyatt and she thought she would just get him back and walked up behind him and kicked his left foot towards his right leg as he was walking. Little did she know that lately his left knee (the one he injured in high school football and again injured while flipping head first over a four-wheeler) had been giving him some trouble. The trip had got his knee just right and it totally gave out. You should have heard the cuss words coming from his mouth. My mind relived the night he was injured at the Homecoming football game. So needless to say, his left knee is now once again swollen and probably in need of a replacement. He decided to put on his best face after that and finish our day trip.

We then headed on up to Woodland Lake with some KFC to have a picnic. You can see Wyatt's left pant leg is up as he is holding ice on the knee. Kelli, of course, wasn't feeling too bad about her assault as she is enjoying her big MEGA sized Dr. P.

It was such a beautiful day. We stopped off at Wal-Mart to get some more supplies for Wyatt's knee and while we were there, it started to rain and get a little chilly. It was such a great change from the sauna that is our home. As I was helping Wyatt get some ice into baggies, he accidentally cut my thumb with his pocketknife. What memories!!

We stopped at a few places to take some pictures. Although it was a day filled with interesting things, we had a great time.
