Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth

I believe that somewhere between heaven and earth

is a place where our loved ones, who have departed from this life,

are allowed to go for a time

to comfort, to watch, to listen, to feel

our grief and sorrows.

I believe that in that place, they are allowed to help

and heal, allowed to be near.

We feel them close

through a thought, a smell, a song, a memory.

We weep, then it's gone.

Emptiness wins again, until another moment comes

somewhere between heaven and earth.
