Band Girls or Geeks?

Both my girls are in the band. I love the fact that they wanted to do their own unique thing. I tried to talk them into going the sports way, but NO.....they wanted band. It started in 5th grade. Why is it in 5th grade all the popular kids want to play an instrument and it is the "in" thing to do. By the time they get to jr. high, all that is left are the geeks in band. Whether my kids are girls or geeks doesn't matter. What matters is that they talked me into playing and buying an instrument three years ago and BY DARN, they are going to keep playing it. Actually, they are both really good. Gray plays the baritone and the trumpet. She wants to try out for the jazz band next year. Kodi is playing in the 7th and 8th grade bands. Her teacher talked her into helping the 7th grade flute section out, so she spends two class periods in band.

The bad thing about the baritone section is that I can never get any good pictures of Gray. She is hidden somewhere in the back of the band.
