Christmas Eve

Wyatt was trying to think of a way that our family could have an experience this Christmas season that would stay with us forever. He said that ever since he was a little boy, he always wanted to do something memorable for Christmas. A co-worker happened to send an email to him this year about helping serve Christmas Eve Dinner to the homeless at a church downtown. Wyatt took that opportunity and volunteered our family.

We had several discussions about what the children might encounter while there, filth, mental illness, disease, etc. So we got up relatively early today and headed to our destination. They told us to wear red shirts so that we could be easily identified. We all happened to put on our family reunion shirts that were red and headed off.

We had a memorable time serving turkey and pie to those less fortunate. The kids were initially scared but soon settled right in to their role and enjoyed visiting and serving. One guy gobbled like a turkey, one guy yelled "GOOD MORNING" while standing only three feet away, another guy thought the ham was turkey, etc. I think we enjoyed it.

After that, we went to the movies and watched "I am Legend." That was pretty scary especially for Gray. Then we came home and got connected on the Windows Live with Brock (who is in Alaska at Fort Richardson in the army) and visited with him a little bit before he was off to a party. We then opened up our Christmas Eve PJs and had our annual "Luke II" reading. We are leaving on the webcam all night with Brock. We will see if he can finally catch Santa. By the way, Brock wasn't able to receive our package in time that we shipped UPS on Tuesday. Bummer!!!
